jonathan loaisiga new york yankees After a convincing home series win against the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees have reclaimed the best record in MLB baseball, but they can’t relax yet as the N.L East-leading Atlanta Braves come to town.

After taking two of three from the Red Sox, the Yankees will host the Braves in a three-game series as they look to continue playing superb baseball at home. This season the Bronx Bombers own an MLB best record of 31-12 at their own ballpark.

They’ve done it while taking 10 of their last 11 home series. The secret to their success at home is their power hitting as they have hit 77 homers Yankee Stadium, which are 15 more at home than any other club in baseball. Furthermore, the Yankees have hit multiple home runs in nine of 10 games at their own ballpark since June 1.

Solid rookie Jonathan Loaisiga gets the nod tonight, against Braves’ 13-year veteran Anibal Sanchez (3-2, 2.68 ERA). Loaisiga has had a great start to his MLB career as he’s gone 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his first three appearances.

On Tuesday night, Domingo German takes the mound opposite Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb (8-2, 2.71 ERA). In over 64 innings this season German is holding the opposition to a .232 batting average while striking 10.49 batters per nine innings pitched.

On Independence Day C.C Sabathia will start the closing game of the series opposite Braves right-handed pitcher Julio Teheran (6-5, 4.21 ERA). Sabathia is 3-1 with a 2.54 ERA in nine starts at Yankee Stadium this season.

The Yankees will face the new and improved Atlanta Braves, who are visiting the Bronx for the first time since 2012.
