Holm Kicks RouseyRonda Rousey yielded her UFC bantamweight throne after falling defeated by KO in the second round to Holly Holm, at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne. Rousey, came to fight with a perfect record of 12 wins in 12 fights, lost her unbeaten record against a rival who proved her ability in the octagon and quickly ended her opponent’s reign thanks to a kick in the neck that send Rousey to the mat. Holm finished the fight with a series of blows while her opponent remained unresponsive until the referee stopped the fight.

Ronda Rousey, until now considered the No. 1 female mixed martial artist, is not invincible. The fighter and actress we have seen in films like ‘Mercenaries 3’ or ‘Furious 7’ has bitten the dust in her last bout.

Holly Holm, the new champion, is 34 and was born in Albuquerque (New Mexico). After her win against Rousey her record of is now of 10 wins in as many matches, and is the new queen of bantamweight. Rousey started the fight as usual, in a rush looking for a quick KO But Holm was able to maintain her distance and finished the first round making her rival impatient. In the second, Rousey charged again and that’s when she encountered a different opponent, swiftly surprised her with a kick to the neck that floored the former Champion. Bleeding and disoriented, Rousey received several blows to the face before the referee decided that Holm was the new champion.

Rousey, one of the most known faces in the UFC  and fighting media for her work as a model and actress, has not only lost her UFC 193 title in the bantamweight bout held at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, but has also jeopardize her tough-girl image for any future roles in Hollywood. Without going any further, her name was rumored to give life to one of the superhero stars in ‘Captain Marvel’. But while the achievements of the struggling actress in the ring are admirable (12 wins in 12 fights), this failure is a bright spot on her record.

It appears that the consequences of her defeat have not been great and, despite losing her title, Ronda Rousey will soon return to her work inside and outside the octagon. Who knows, maybe eventually we get to see her clad the ‘Captain Marvel’ costume.
