Chiefs’ Explosive Attack Awaits Redskins at Arrowhead

by admin on Monday, October 2nd, 2017

kareem hunt chiefs nflThe Washington Redskins (2-1) travel to Kansas City to clash with the undefeated Chiefs (3-0) at Arrowhead on Monday Night Football.

The Chiefs can continue to prove that their week 1 explosive performance against the New England Patriots was no fluke.

The Chiefs are capable of big plays all over as quarterback Alex Smith is proving that he’s can lead a potent offense and execute big plays regardless of whether the team decides to use a big throw to Tyreek Hill or a short pass to running back Kareem Hunt. The Chiefs have the most diverse run game in the NFL with multiple looks that keep defenses guessing.

Kansas City’s offense can attack any area of the field with explosive players that right now are working as a well-oiled machine. With Smith leading them, this offense will challenge the Redskins in a totally different way than what they faced in their 27-10 win against the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders struggled because their offensive line miscommunicated and failed to decently protect Derek Carr and his running backs, however the Chiefs most likely won’t fail in that regard.

If the Redskins defense blinks or sputters in any way, they can be trailing 14-0 in the opening quarter before they know it.

Andy Reid has put together an offense this season that leads the league in rushing and is capable of scoring on any opening drive, regardless of the formation or defense they are facing. As a result, the Kirk Cousins and the Redskins will have to focus on matching those explosive plays on their side of the ball.

Cousins will have to be careful and not be overenthusiastic trying to match the Chiefs’ pace because Kansas City’s defense is among the best in the league taking away the ball and he’s typically struggled throughout his career against this type of defense.

If Cousins takes good care of the ball the Redskins may have a decent chance against the Chiefs, but if Marcus Peters and the rest of the gang get to him the Redskins and their fans could be in for a long day at the office.
