Odds To Make It To Canton For Active NFL Players Part Two

by admin on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013

Pro Football Hall of Fame(Part One) Ed Reed is the only active defensive back to grab more interceptions than Charles Woodson, he has 66 and has racked up more interception return yards than anyone in NFL history.  He too has a Super Bowl ring from 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens. Reed goes to the Houston Texans for 2013 where he is expected to once again be one of the most dominant defensive players in the league.  The odds on Edward Earl Reed making it to Canton are now up to 1-to-80.

In 2011, New Orleans Quarterback Drew Brees broke the single season record for the most passing yards by a quarterback of 5,476 yards which was set by the great Johnny Unitas way back when.  Brees has been the heart and soul of the Saints since joining the team in 2006 and led New Orleans to victory at Super Bowl XLIV where he was also named MVP.  Brees will most likely surpass the 50,000 career passing yards in 2013.  He is only 4,000 away. His odds to make it to Canton and the Hall of Fame are 1-to-100.

Tony Gonzalez of the Atlanta Falcons is currently second among all active receivers in the NFL trailing only the great Randy Moss.  For any wide receiver this would be very impressive, for a tight end it is indeed remarkable.  Gonzalez has earned his place among the best to ever have played the game.  He will reach 15,000 yards this season and has been to the Pro Bowl 13 times. The odds on Tony Gonzalez makes it to Canton are currently at 1-to-500.

New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady has already done everything required for enshrinement at Canton…and more. He has played every one of his 13 years in the NFL with the Patriots and Bill Belichick.  He has been elected to the Pro Bowl 8 times and won three Super Bowl rings.  He too is approaching the watermark for quarterbacks of 50,000 passing yards and could very well get there in 2013.  Setting odds on Brady making it to Canton are a bit unrealistic but handicappers have them currently at 1-to-900.

As with Tom Brady, setting odds for Peyton Manning to make the NFL Hall of Fame are neither here nor there. He is going to Canton and anyone wanting to wager against that will have to put up at least $1,000 to win $1!  They probably won’t get many takers on that proposition. Peyton Manning is talked about as being one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game… and he is. We don’t even need to look at his numbers… they are that good.
