CFL Bettors Winning Big On The Over As Season Kicks Off

by admin on Monday, July 8th, 2013

Canadian Football LeagueIf you followed tradition and bet the over on the four games of the first week of the Canadian Football League, you did pretty well.  All four games went over as predicted with an average of 69.25 points being scored in each of the opening contests.

The Stampeders of Calgary scored the most points during the opening weekend of action racking up 44 against the BC Lions.  All total, the two teams went 24 points over the predicted 52 point total.

There were also some major adjustments in the odds to win the Grey Cup after the first round of games.  The biggest move was made by the Saskatchewan Roughriders who opened at +800 but came out on Monday at +400 after destroying the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday by a final score of 39-18… helped by a 131 yard running effort from running back Kory Sheets.

The Roughriders next will host the Calgary Stampeders.  After the first week Saskatchewan stands at 1-0 straight-up, 0-1 against the spread and 1-0 on the over & under.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers opened as the biggest underdogs in the league and their loyal fans watched on as their odds took another tumble after falling to the Alouettes of Montreal in the season opener 38-33.  Winnipeg opened at +1700 to win the Cup but found themselves all the way up to +2200 at the start of week two. The Blue Bombers are now 0-1 straight-up, 0-1 against the spread and 1-0 on the over & under.

Two games will be played on Thursday July 4 in the CFL.  One featuring Winnipeg at Montreal where the Alouettes are -7.5 point favorites and the over & under is set at 53.5.  The other will be played in British Columbia as the Lions host to the Toronto Argonauts, the defending Grey Cup Champions. The Lions are actually favored to win this one with the over and under set at 52 for the game.

On Friday evening, the Calgary Stampeders invade Saskatchewan to take on the Roughriders. Handicappers are calling this one a pick and posting the over & under at 54.  Finally, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats welcome the Edmonton Eskimos for a game on Sunday afternoon. The T-Cats are 7 point favorites. The over & under is the highest of the week at 55.5.  Best of Luck, eh!
