Warriors Dismantle Spurs And Wait For Finals’ Rival

by admin on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017

warriors-golden-state-conference-champsThe Golden State Warriors are the first  to punch their ticket to the NBA finals. The Warriors arrive to the NBA Finals after sweeping the San Antonio Spurs in very solid fashion and becoming the first team to start the playoffs 12-0.

The debacle by the Spurs is something rarely seen, since the NBA fans are used to seeing teams coached by Gregg Popovich giving their opponents fierce competition.

The Texans are not the only ones who have been swept by the Golden State Warriors, they are just the most recent victim. Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and company, are sizzling hot in these playoffs and previously took care of the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz are, showing they deserve to be considered among the best postseason teams ever.

In the fourth game of the series, the Spurs were without Tony Parker or Kawhi Leonard due to injuries. The Warriors on the other hand, were missing Zaza Pachulia. The Warriors were from the beginning much better and overwhelmed the Spurs who badly missed their core players.

Once they took control the Warriors did not let go. The Warriors were so superior and had such a comfortable lead that they became sloppy and committed 17 turnovers, something that becomes inadmissible at times, but with such a big lead is understandable to a certain extent that they became careless.

San Antonio’s Manu Ginobili is one of the few players that tried to challenge the Warriors superiority. Ginobili hasn’t decided whether he or not he will retire this offseason, but if this happens to be his last performance on a basketball court it was more than a fitting goodbye from the Argentine star. Ginobili scored 15 points and had 7 assists in 32 minutes of play. Another veteran, power forward Pau Gasol came off the bench to add 14 points and 9 rebounds.

For Golden State Kevin Durant contributed with a double-double (29 points and 12 rebounds); Stephen Curry finished with 36 points and six assists; while power forward Draymond Green had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The Warriors now rest and wait for the winner of the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers Eastern Conference Final to find out who they will face in their third straight NBA Finals, which starts on June 1 at Oracle Arena.
