The Best of Week 9, 2015 on NFL Part 2

by admin on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015

NFL LogoWe continue the Best from this past week (Read Part 1) we’ll go into the individual players and coaches that made their teams reach their goals and are sure to be talked about in the upcoming weeks.

Linval Joseph – Vikings DT

Two seasons ago the Vikings invested several millions in the defensive lineman in 2014 that money did not pay back at all, but for this 2015 Joseph has become a key player in the team’s success this weekend against the Rams had 10 tackles, three of them behind the line.

Updated Nov 12, 2015: Linval Joseph was declared defensive player of the week. Check it at Vikings.com

Tyler Eifert – Bengals TE

Eifert has had a very decent season, but this weekend against the Browns took advantage of the fact that Andy Dalton’s WRs were all well covered, the TE caught three touchdown, to reach a total of nine in the season. In fact with this performance, Eifert tied the most TDs of a TE record in the franchise, which unless something terrible happens, he will break.

Ron Rivera – HC Panthers

Rivera and his team have a winning streak which is not necessary to discuss, again proved this weekend what the team is made of and Rivera knows which way to go, going forward. As a player, back in 85, he enjoyed a similar run with the Bears, now it’s time to apply that knowledge and already has commented, that he wants his team to stay focused and on the same path.

The decision to put Gabbert

Not Blaine Gabbert per se, but a change in the 49ers QB, the team needed an urgent change, although surely Gabbert is not the answer in that position for San Francisco, perhaps Kaepernick will again start soon enough, but the change was necessary for the team at least at this time… and at least one more against the Seahawks

Matt Cassel – Cowboys QB

Despite the defeat, we must admit that Cassel gave the stability to the Cowboys offensive, a stability not seen since the early weeks of the season with Tony Romo. Threw three touchdowns for just one pick, McFadden was an incredible aid, we saw a different offensive that might be able to salvage their season before Romo comes back.

LeGarrette Blount – Patriots RB

A lack of Dion Lewis, Blount took place and although a great running game in New England is not urgent, he certainly helped Brady to take off the pressure from the Redskins into an easy victory, the veteran RB surpassed 120 yards, and surely these kinds of performances are needed in the future.
