Lessons Learned: Week 13 Part 1

3 NFL Teams Still UndefeatedAs Week 13 comes to an end we move without hesitation into Week 14 with some performances very well over expectations and others just plain disappointing, we take a look back into the matchups we had this week.

GB 27, DET 23

In one of the most exciting plays I’ve seen in my life, the Packers won a match that they did not deserve to win. they continue having the same problems and so far they do not look like a Super Bowl team. The Lions dominated most of the match but could not close it properly. It is a defect in them as a franchise, as they often have mistakes in important moments since the Super Bowl era. Those who remain fans of the Lions are true fans.

NYJ 23, NYG 20 (OT)

Fitzpatrick is playing the best football of his career. Gailey knows how to make the most of his arm, with a simple but effective offense. The most important thing is that he has responded fairly well in important moments, and is likely to get his team into the playoffs. Coach Coughlin made a difficult decision that might cost him his position in the long run. In a fourth down opportunity, he chose to gamble and ended up with Eli Manning intercepting. If he had chosen to go for the 3 points the team would have ended up with a 13 point difference.

ARI 27, STL 3

The Cardinals are still in considerable momentum, cementing their great season. The most important note remains in Carson Palmer, who has become a real elite quarterback. With all the team is very complete, most of the weight of this offense falls on his shoulders, and without him they would not get very far. He is certainly an unpopular candidate for the MVP of this season. The Rams are already a disaster, and now the offensive coordinator has lost his job consequently. The only competent offensive weapon they had, the running back Todd Gurley, no longer works because defenses have focused their efforts on stopping him alone, because the rest of the offense can not do anything.

TB 23, ATL 19

The Bucs continue to surprise the league, but even more the rookie Jameis Winston. Is having the  best rookie season way over Andrew Luck and Cam Newton, and is making fewer mental mistakes, which speaks of a quick maturity in the game. Many scouts underestimated his mobility, and in this game we saw a Steve Young in the mix. Matt Ryan, who at one point was called “Matty Ice” is no longer the cold blooded player who solved the score when games were about to be decided, at least this year. His lack of temper and calm is affecting the team.

SEA 38, MIN 7

Seattle has returned to be the team nobody wants to face. Wilson game has been impressive, but we never doubted him. The main reason for the increase in the offense level is not Wilson, but the significant improvement in the line, which is giving him more time in the pocket. Although the Vikings have had a good season, they have failed to be that big team that dominates and imposes on others in the game. Although this formula has made them win several games, they may not return from the many losses as their offensive lacks that ability.

BUF 30, HOU 21

As we have already seen, the Bills have an intriguing offensive, with Watkins, Taylor and McCoy as the main protagonists. Now they can win games scoring many points unlike other Ryan teams who led the wins with a suffocating defensive base. The problem is that now they are failing on the defensive side, so Ryan has to adjust and recover talent, as they have had many injuries. The search for the wildcard will be fought. The Texans additional weapons have done a good job. Among Shorts, Washington, Griffin and the three runners were able to take the pressure off of Hoyer and Hopkins, which makes them a dangerous offensive. Too bad that now the defense did not act up to it, but they continue in the fight.
