Drone Racing League

As the wave of technology and entertainment joins once again we have a very interesting breed of racing.

Taken into a whole new level, the idea of maneuvering a drone with a camera is not new, but the idea of content derived by massive events such as drone racing or FPV flying is very exciting and is hugely expected and critically favored. Here are some things you need to know before the start of the 2016 DRL season.

FPV, first person view also known as remote person view, is completely different from what we are used to. In FPV the race driver uses a radio control and a real time video feed directly into the pilot’s goggles to maneuver and direct their drones. The Goggles give the pilot immediate access to the view from the cockpit itself and allowing it to be connected as standalone content as if you were the individual pilot.

Racing drones are completely identical to each other, the quadcopter model “DRL Racer 2” will make the driver talents clear through hoops lit by neon lights, through winding corridors and areas filled with artificial fog.

The championship will consist of several areas starting local and then worldwide where drones and pilots will be tested intensively. As a first the Gates of Hell were the host for the preseason, where drones twisted and zigzagged through the galleries, tunnels and passages of an abandoned power station in Yonkers, New York. becoming the proving ground of the first ever event of this kind.

Miami Lights: Another Stage where they will compete this February 22nd as the start and official launch of the 2016 season. Shown in depth in the promotional video will be held at the Sunlife Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.

Pilots score points by finishing races in the allotted time and clearing all checkpoints, after multiple heats the winner is decided. At the beginning of each heat the course is cleared and the next driver comes in after several procedures to ensure the new drone will have the same experience as the previous pilot.

The experience itself is completely new, and to seriously wrap our heads around this concept words fail to describe this purely adrenaline seeker new league in a sense of excitement for the fan as they will immerse with the driver in the acrobatics and agility of a radio controlled drone.
