All Bets are Off on the NHL

by admin on Friday, May 18th, 2012

NHL BettingNHL betting used to be one of the easiest types of sports betting around, mainly because the players and the teams were just so darn predictable. The best teams seemed to stay at the top of the standings season after season! This year, though, the playoffs were anything but, leading gamblers and bookies alike to have no real clue as to who will win this year’s Stanley Cup! As you can imagine, this will make betting on NHL or dealing in the hockey related bookmaking industry a real challenge, but what fun is betting on hockey without a little uncertainty and adventure?

Most surprisingly (and heart wrenchingly for some fans) is the fact that some tried and true favorites on the NFL betting scene just aren’t living up to the hype anymore. In this season and during the fight thus far for the Stanley Cup, it’s been all about the underdogs taking the victory and winning the love of spectators everywhere. Of course, bettors aren’t too thrilled about these surprises, but that’s what betting on hockey is really all about!

So far, Boston, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, and Detroit have been chased from contention, and then the New York Rangers barely made it past the Ottawa Senators! For whatever reason, the former top teams just can’t win, turning NHL betting into something of a free for all! While there won’t be any sureties this season, it’s still worth it to get involved with the excitement, either as a bookie or a player. No matter what the outcome, you won’t regret it! This kind of season doesn’t come along in hockey very often at all, and it’s definitely something you’ll want to be a part of.

Another team that delivered some unexpected skills is the Phoenix Coyotes, who seemingly woke up right at the end of the season and then carried themselves to the play-offs!  This is the first time in a quarter of a century that this team has reached the second round and that’s having a huge impact on NHL betting odds! Longtime fans are going wild, and there are even some new fans showing up to root on the little team that could. Other teams deserving of that endearment are the Devils and the Kings Smart bettors and bookies should be able to look at the history of the teams still in the running and make some educated guesses about the outcome of this year’s championship but so far it’s still anyone’s game.
