Now that the frenzy of the Final Four has passed it’s time to focus on the Masters, one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments and the year’s first major.
With Tiger Woods back in the mix this year’s Masters is being highly anticipated. This year’s event is slated to be an unbelievable tournament with a star-studded field full of players trending in the right direction at the right time.
But can Tiger actually compete in this year’s Masters? He’s back playing his first major since 2015 and his performance will depend largely on how good his drive is. On a course as long as Augusta if a player’s drive is not at the of his game it can sink him in the standings.
Fortunately for Tiger, his short game and putting have always been among the best and that should help him as he knows these greens, as well as anybody and that, can bail him out when he runs into trouble or falls behind.
With an improved overall performance in 2018 and after finishing tied for second place at the Valspar Championship this year, Tiger is once again one of the favorites to win at Augusta.
Woods improved performance has a lot to do with the fact that he’s no longer dealing with pain in his lower back after he got the problematic disk in that area fused and is now solid rock as Woods himself said on a TV interview back in late March.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Woods is ready to dominate the opposition on the course and cruise to victory as there are plenty of players ready to put up a fight.
Woods along with Dustin Johnson (ranked number one in the world), Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth are among the players with the shortest odds to win the Masters.
Other than those mentioned above, it would be foolish to rule out Bubba Watson, as he has a great eye for Augusta and he won there back in 2012 and 2014.
