Liverpool Look To Extend 15-Game Unbeaten Streak Against Everton

saleh mohamed liverpool reds anfieldManager Jurgen Klopp said that there can be no room for complacency against Everton as Liverpool look to equal a club record in Sunday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

The Reds are looking to extend their unbeaten run against Everton to 15 games – a feat previously achieved between 1972 and 1978.

The Toffees meanwhile are searching for their first win at Anfield since 1999 when they won 1-0 thanks to a goal by marksman Kevin Campbell.

Klopp is the only manager in the club’s history to win his first three meetings against the Blues and his side go into Sunday’s game on a high after the midweek 7-0 drubbing of Spartak Moscow.

However, the German coach has sought to diminish the euphoria at Melwood by reminding his men about what occurred the last time Liverpool dished out that kind of beating. Five days after hammering Maribor by the same score back in October, the Reds slumped to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham.

As for Everton, Klopp believes the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager has energized the Blues. After a sweltering run, they have pulled away from the Premier League drop zone with back-to-back league wins over West Ham and Huddersfield.

Since losing to Tottenham, Liverpool has gone on a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions during which they have plundered 32 goals.

The ‘Fab Four’ of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho have taken most of the praises but Klopp insists that the feisty resurgence has been a group effort.

The team announced that the status of midfielder Adam Lallana, who has missed the Reds’ last three games with a thigh injury, is still in the air. He hasn’t played since his appearance as a late substitute against Chelsea last month.

He is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game, while defender Alberto Moreno will also miss the match with an ankle injury sustained against Spartak Moscow on Wednesday.
