The Saints Went 14 In A Row ATS At Home

by admin on Monday, November 18th, 2013

New Orleans SaintsThere are no sure things in sports wagering.  Not hardly. But the New Orleans Saints have been about as good as it gets for their backers of late.  Under Head Coach Sean Payton, the Saints went 14-0 Against the Spread at home in New Orleans in the Mercedes SuperDome. No other NFL team even comes close.

In those 14 wins, the Saints outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points.  On top of that, Quarterback Drew Brees has now thrown multiple touchdown passes in 22 consecutive games played in New Orleans. That is the longest streak in the entire history of the NFL.

This season the Saints are 5-0 ATS & SU so far. They went into the game last Sunday afternoon against the San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick as 3.5 point favorites but they only won by 3 points and so ended the 14 game ATS streak by the New Orleans franchise. However, in their past 26 games in the SuperDome, the Saints have gone 21-5 ATS with Drew Brees at the helm.

So the Saints go to 8 and 2 and are firmly in command in the NFC South. In fact, in the entire NFC, only the Seattle Seahawks have a better record this year at 10-1.

Next week New Orleans travels to Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Thursday Night Football.  The Seahawks have a bye week to rest up for the Saints who will come to Seattle for Monday Night Football on December 2nd. Now that should be quite a matchup. Both teams lay claim to having the loudest dome in the NFL.

Away from New Orleans, the Saints have not done quite so well and 4 of their final 6 games will be played in enemy territory starting next week in Atlanta then going all the way out to Seattle for the Monday night game with the Seahawks.

Then they are back home to host Cam Newton and the red hot Carolina Panthers before hitting the road once again to go up to St. Louis to play the Rams and then traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina to take on the Panthers yet again. The final game of the regular season will be played back in New Orleans against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 29th.

In their home game against the 49ers, the Saints drew 92% of the action played at Nevada sportsbooks. But they failed to cover the 3.5 points and the game went way under the predicted 50 point total.
